Outcome 1: Be compassionate and kind.

  1. Be aware of and appreciate one’s similarities and differences with others.
  2. Listen well and cooperate with others.
  3. Demonstrate awareness of one’s own thoughts and emotions and how they impact behavior.
  4. Express emotions, thoughts and impulses in positive and beneficial ways.
  5. Resolve conflicts and repair relationships.

  • Panorama Survey (3-5) fall 2022 and spring 2023.

Goal

  • By June 2023, 100% of classroom teachers will teach the Second Step Curriculum, mindfulness, and Habits of Mind. 
  • By June of 2023, 80% of students will demonstrate an awareness of being compassionate and kind, as measured in the Panorama survey in the categories of sense of belonging  and positive feelings.
  • By June, of 2023, reduce the amount of K-1 students of concern from 30% to 10%.
  • By June 2023, 100% of classroom teachers will teach the Zones of Regulation tools.

Action Plan

  • Administer OSD Elementary Student Panorama Survey for 3, 4, and 5th-grade students late fall 2022 and late spring in 2023.
  • Administer Lincoln School Climate Survey to all students K-5.
  • Teachers fill out Lincoln Social Emotional screener for all students K-5.
  • Staff identify students of concern.
  • All students will demonstrate techniques & strategies for solving problems with peers in a healthy, constructive and safe manner as per Second Step criteria and Zones of Regulation.
  • All teachers practice Responsive Classroom social emotional approach to teaching and discipline desiged to create safe, joyful and engaging classroom communities.
  • Compare data points from Panaroma, Lincoln School Climate, Social Emotional Screener and staff-identified children of concern in order to apply interventions.
  • Intentional instruction with the use of the Second Step curriculum to support social/emotional skill development.
  • Children will increase their emotional vocabulary and self reflection by using Zones Regulation strategies.
  • Adults will intentionally use problem-solving strategies using Glasser Choice Theory.
  • Teachers will teach restitution as part of the problem-solving process.
  • All staff will intentionally teach kindness, manners, and respect throughout the school day.
  • Counselor and support staff, including paraeducators, will hold both targeted small group social skills sessions and drop-in sessions for lunch buddies focusing on interpersonal skills and compassion.  
  • Family liaisons at each building will reach out to students and families to provide support in partnership with counselors and principals.
  • Conflicts will be addressed using a Restorative Justice model.

Outcome 2: Have the academic and life skills to pursue their individual career, civic and educational goals.

  1. Read, write and speak effectively for a wide range of purposes, including the interpretation and analysis of both literary and informational texts.
  2. Know and apply mathematics to a level of fluency that ensures a broad range of post-secondary opportunities and career choices.

Goal

Math:
  • By June 2023,  at least 80% of K-5 students will demonstrate growth in their math skills as indicated by their unit pre- and post-assessments.  
  • By June 2023,  100% of K-5th grade teachers will use Standards for Mathematical practices to provide access and equity for all students as measured by teacher created assessments/rubrics. 
  • By June 2023, at least 75% of 2nd-5th grade students will meet growth goals and/or reach grade level proficiency as measured by Fall 2022 to Spring 2023 MAP.
ELA: 
  • By June 2023, at least 80% of students in kindergarten-5th grade will improve their reading fluency and comprehension as measured by Lucy Caulkins running records and classroom based assessment.
  • By June 2023, at least 75% of 2nd-5th grade students will meet growth goals and/or reach grade level proficiency as measured by Fall 2022 to Spring 2023 MAP. 
  • By June 2023, at least 80% of students in kindergarten through fifth grade will speak/perform to the entire Lincoln community at a school-wide assembly as measured by checklist. 
Science:
  • By June 2023, at least 80% of Kindergarten-3rd grade students will demonstrate understanding of the investigations via the inquiry cycle as measured by teacher created assessments/rubrics. 
  • By June 2023, at least 80% of kindergarten-5th grade students will develop artifacts to represent observable phenomena from the natural world as measured by teacher created assessments/rubrics. 
Problem Solving:
  • By June 2023, at least 80% of students in kindergarten through fifth grade will articulate and demonstrate Habits of Mind as a tool for increasing academic and non-academic skill development as measured by observation and rubrics. 
  • By June 2023, at least 80% of students in kindergarten through fifth grade will articulate individual goals for themselves as measured by observation and rubrics.
  • 100% of students will improve their emotional vocabulary from Zones of Refgulation strategies.



Action Plan

Math:
  • Continue to provide high-quality educational mathematics instructional experiences that strengthen students’ skills.
  • Administer pre-and post-assessments for each Bridges unit.
  • Students will demonstrate the use of Standards for Mathematical Practices from Bridges.
ELA: 
  • Continue to implement Lucy Calkins’ Units of Study curriculum for reading, writing, and, as applicable, phonics. 
  • Continue to support speaking and listening skills through morning meetings, weekly school-wide assemblies, school presentations, and classroom discussions.
Problem-Solving:
  • Continue to implement Habits of Mind, Growth Mindset, Zones of Regulation, and problem-solving models to students in academic and non-academic settings. 
  • Continue to implement student-led conferences with student-identified goals based on thoughtful reflections of academic and non-academic experiences. 
Science:

Outcome 3: Advocate for the social, physical and mental wellness of themselves and others and be hopeful about the future.

  1. Communicate effectively.

  3. Be physically active and see athletics and exercise as health-enhancing behaviors.
  4. Understand and apply principles of sound mental and emotional health and learn to identify signs of emotional health concerns such as depression, anxiety and suicidal thinking in self and others.
  5. Understand how and when to seek supportive mental and emotional health resources for self and others.
  6. Cultivate healthy relationships that honor each person's personal preferences and boundaries.

  8. Develop the skills and habits to assess the role of technology and social media in their lives and distinguish between healthy and harmful use.

Goal

  • By June 2023, 100% of students who need support identified by the Panorama survey will receive support through social and lunch groups.
  • By June of 2023, 80% of students will respond favorably when asked about their ability to demonstrate self-efficacy and emotional regulation as measured in the Panorama survey, Zones of Regulation tools, Lincoln School Climate survey, and Social Emotional Screener.

Action Plan

  • Administer OSD Panorama survey fall and spring.
  • Administer Lincoln School Climate Survey to all students K-5.
  • Teachers fill out Lincoln Social Emotional screener for all students K-5; staff will identify students of concern and provide social emotional supports to students in need.
  • By June 2023 100% of classroom teachers will intentionally teach the Second Step curriculum, Mindfulness, Zones of Regulation tools and Habits of Mind.
  • Teachers will incorporate opportunities for students to practice self-regulation strategies throughout the day and teach zones of regulation, calm down corner, relaxation techniques, positive self-talk, classroom meetings, Second Step lessons/language in the classroom
  • Students K-5 will complete Common Sense Media lessons about Well Being and Balance, Privacy and Security,  Digital Footprint and Identity, Relationships and Communications, Cyberbullying, Digital Drama and Hate Speech, and News and Media Literacy. 
  • Teachers on the DII 2.0 team will use Jennifer La Garde's Digital Detectives resources to teach information literacy, focusing on understanding mis-, dis- and mal-information and determining information credibility.
  • The family liaison will partner with the school counselor, Tier 2 Teams, BHR, and other local community-based resources to support the mental health and well-being of students. Behavior Technicians will continue to use CICO (check-in, check out) system.
  • Use Responsive Classroom strategies including Morning Meeting structure.
  • 5th grade students will recieve suicide prevention lessons.

Outcome 4: Have the skills, knowledge and courage to identify and confront personal, systemic and societal bias.

  1. Develop an appreciation of world cultures, which may include the understanding of the basic structure of another world language.
  2. Be well versed in local, national and world history and understand how prejudice, racism and xenophobia have contributed to conflict.
  3. Demonstrate the ability to recognize that biased attitudes expressed consistently over time gradually distort perceptions until stereotypes and myths about people different from oneself are accepted as reality.
  4. Empower themselves to interrupt discriminatory remarks and attitudes.
  5. Evaluate the significance and dependability of information used to support positions.
  6. Analyze the validity, reliability and credibility of information from a variety of primary and secondary sources while researching an issue or event.

Metric

  • Use Street Data survey late fall and early spring.
  • Use the family Panorama survey in late fall and early spring.


Goal

  • 100% of students will create a product to share their learning about school-wide Movers and Shakers Theme by May 2023.
  • All teachers will provide lessons to students in order to increase equity awareness in relation to heritage, race, culture, religion, gender and ability.
  • By April 2023, 100% of the students will complete Street Data Surveys and staff will create goals based on the results from the survey.
  • By April 2023, 70% of the families will complete Street Data Surveys. Staff and the Options Community Council will create goals based on the results from the survey.
  • In partnership with Options Community Council families, 80% of families will respond favorably regarding students learning about, discussing, and confronting issues of race, ethnicity, and culture in school as measured by the Panorama Survey in the Cultural Awareness and Action section by late spring of 2023.
  • Spanish lessons will be taught to all students K-5.
  • Continue to be thoughtful in diversifying staff and families.
  • Teacher Librarian will develop lessons on information literacy using Detectives resources from the from DII 2.0 team training to K-5 graders .


Action Plan

  • All teachers will implement at least one unit of the Since Time Immemorial curriculum.
  • All teachers will intentionally teach the meaning of the Land Acknowledgement. 
  • Teachers will have weekly intentional discussions around equity issues. 
  • Teachers will choose books intentionally to represent diverse cultures, languages, and perspectives.
  • Equity Teams will meet routinely throughout the year to plan professional development using the book, Street Data.
  • Families will participate in the OSD Panorama SEL Survey in late fall 2022 and late spring of 2023.
  • Teachers provide opportunities for class discussions when events arise in the community related to major news events and will communicate topics of conversations with families.
  • Continue to diversify the library collection to better represent all students and cultures.

Outcome 5: Discover their passions, be curious and love learning.

  1. Broaden their perspectives and seek out various opportunities to explore new ideas, particularly those areas that are unfamiliar or uncomfortable to find their interests.
  2. Experience failure, setbacks and disappointments as an expected and honored part of learning.
  3. Understand and demonstrate the value of service in their community and learning by doing.
  4. Pursue creative and artistic opportunities as a vocation and/or a form of lifelong enrichment.

Metric

  • All K-5 teachers will integrate Project-Based Learning.
  • Continue to implement Units of Study, and  Reader's and Writer's Workshop to offer choices within a structure.
  • Surveys will be  completed by students at the end of the school-wide service event to provide feeddback.
  • All staff will recieve training on Zones of Regulation tools.

Goal

  • 100% of students will create a project from our school-wide theme, Movers and Shakers. 
  • 100% of grade levels will provide opportunities for students to participate in a service project by June, 2023.
  • 100% of students will read and write about topics of interest and use the skills taught through Units of Study.
  • 100% of the students will be able to improve their emotional vocabulary and able to share 1-2 regulating strategies from Zones of Regulation tools.

Action Plan

  • 100% of teachers  use Units of Study to guide their teaching and integrate teamwork.
  • 100% of teachers will incorporate Project-Based Learning to support the Movers and Shakers theme.
  • 100% of staff will understand and use Zones of Regulation tools and strategies.
  • Students will be able to identify their zone and name a strategy to manage and process their feelings.
  • School/grade levels/teachers choose at least one service project to complete during the year.  
  • Work in partnership with families and community members to complete service project(s).
  • Highlight and celebrate examples of students providing service.

  • 100%  of students in grades K-5 will be taught lessons from the DII 2.0 team training.
